Tungsten is a rare natural metal found on Earth, It was discovered in 1781 and declared as a metal in 1783. Its melting point is an unbelievable 3422 degrees centigrade!It is also known as Wolfram and therefore its elemental symbol on the periodic table is W and its atomic number is 74.
Its incredible hardness actually results only once it is alloyed with other elements such as Carbon which forms Tungsten Carbide. Items such as rings are produced with Tungsten Carbide.
